The #PRINCE2 management by exception principle and its effectiveness in #agile situations is open to #debate. Its main #benefit is to save #time and #resources spent on monitoring & control (M&C). The danger in it is that it may lead to #reactive #behaviour.

According to APMG, only 64% of projects meet their goals because they lack proper planning and monitoring & control. Therefore projects need some degree of traditional management. #TraditionalManagement in the sense of a process-based framework, like #HybridP3M, combined with delivery methods, #predictive, #agile, #hybrid / along the predictive-agile continuum. Only traditional management pays attention to monitoring and control. Agile approaches are limited to people control.

Hybrid Project Management depends on Traditional Management, which is not a #Waterfall delivery process. It is much more complex. Traditional Management is based on the need for effectiveness and efficiency. These two process goals are critical for #projects with a tight budget and strict deadlines. Hybrid Management only introduces an #Agile Mindset and an Agile delivery process, which is to some extent also traditional. This Agile Mindset is aligned with customer needs. #HybridP3M
